G.J. Vossius, Heidelberg, maart 1577 - Amsterdam, 17 maart 1649. According to C.S.M. Rademaker, the work contains valuable etymologies, which are due to his wide reading, his thorough historical knowledge and not least his fine sense of language. Vossius' etymological dictionary can be counted among the best that was published on this subject in his age. Rademaker, C.S.M., Gerardus Joannes Vossius (1577-1649), 271.
